The lenders and loan brokers made dubious loans fully expecting to either sell them or have the taxpayers pay them through Fannie Mae or Freddy Mac. As the insurer of these delinquent loans, FM has every right and obligation to hold onto the paper and wait out the market rather than selling out at the bottom of the trough. Quit your whining, lenders-- after all, what other investor gets a government guarantee of their investments?
